Composite Charts - What Are They?

The composite chart combines two charts and form a unique chart, as if the two people's energies now are one. It gives a different perspective towards a relationship analysis. Some astrologers use only composites, some use synastry. I offer both. The synastry chart in the Love Match Report is different in that it tells you the details of how that person can affect your life, and vice versa. It compares the chart's planets and aspects for compatible elements. And, the synastry has the point system, which is the Love Rating.

The composite chart doesn't have the point system. The value of the composite chart is comparing it to combining oil with vinegar and coming up with a new taste or entity. The composite chart puts the two charts together and forms a whole new set of dynamics, making it a new chart.  A new ascendant, midheaven, Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto pattern in the planets, signs, and houses are formed. 

Here is a good definition of a composite chart,  from The Astrology Encyclopedia: A composite chart is a form of synastry in which the horoscopes of two individuals being compared are overlaid, the midpoints between the house cusps and the house cusps are calculated, and a third chart is generated consisting entirely of these midpoints. For example, if one individual's Sun as located at 15 Scorpio and the other person's Sun is 15 Virgo, the Sun in the composite chart is at 15 Libra, which would be right in the middle (midpoint) between the two. The same operation is carried out for al of the planets and houses. A composite chart, like other methods of chart comparison, is supposed to reveal how the two different people interact. The composite chart shows how the pair of people in the relationship operate together in the world.

According to this interpretation, a composite chart would provide insight into the "personality" of a marriage or business partnership.
